Dawson 5th Grade Students Wanted: to take the… Einstein Challenge Complete the following challenges:   Math Facts to Memorize (100 points possible) Times tables 1-12’s in under 5 minutes (20 points) Prime numbers to 100 (20 points) Square numbers to 225 (20 points) The “Classification of Numbers” chart (20 points) Roman Numerals to one million (20 points)   Math Problems (500 points possible) Each problem worth up to 10 points   Math Literature / Book Report (100 points possible) The Number Devil by Hans Enzensberger, or other teacher pre-approved choice   Science Literature / Book Report (100 points possible) Biography or approved historical fiction related to an important scientist or scientific discovery, or other teacher pre-approved choice   Science Facts to Memorize and be able to List or Explain (80 points possible) The first 30 elements of the Periodic Table of the Elements (number, symbol and name) (20 points) The human body’s major bones (label a diagram) (20 points) The human body’s digestive system  (label a diagram) (20 points) Each of the world’s five biomes (20 points)   At-Home Labs (up to 100 points possible) Lab choices will be given out as we study each unit (20 points per lab)   Technology Activities  (up to 120 points possible) Create a “Hot List” on a math or science topic.  Find at least 10 websites that address this topic in informative, accurate and interesting ways Describe and evaluate each site (20 points per subject) Create a PowerPoint tutorial on a math or science topic (20 points per subject) Create a Thinking Map Portfolio on a math or science topic (20 points per subject)   Science Report – Endangered Species (50 points possible)   Math Report – Special Number (See Special Number handout) (50 points possible)   Enjoy Working on your Challenges (priceless)
